I use Alfreds guitar method books for guitar and bass. Piano I use the Bastian and others. I teach from both my song books, and by thier cd or audio tracks. I teach each student individually and move them forward to performance level. I teach how to read music and music ear training. Theory training is also available at lessons as needed. Once I get the student past the basics on to intermediate level, I can listen to cd or audio recordings and reproduce the instrumental part on the spot. Read More

Some of them have graduated from Berklee, Musician's Institute, and others just see music as a hobby and I respect and encourage them all equally. I've had adult students just picking up an instrument for the first time and seasoned pros that need some new perspective. My teaching has been a massive part of my career, including private lessons, working at School of Rock for 9 years, and masterclasses in my native Venezuela and The Netherlands. Read More

I have been teaching since 2008. I thoroughly enjoy teaching students of all ages because I can relate to students who are learning and trying to progress in their instrument as I can remember being in their position when I started learning music. Seeing students progress and improve as a result of helping them, I find to be one of the most rewarding aspects for me personally. It’s never too late to start learning no matter what age you are. When receiving a student I first like to get to know the student by friending them. Asking question as to what their likes are and just getting to know them. For the beginner we start of with a Method book that fits their age and personaity and go from there. For the student that already has had past music experience I like to hear them play at first and see at what level they are to be able to place them on the correct method. Read More

As I went on to graduate school and then ultimately to complete my Ph.D. in musicology, I continued to teach privately that whole time while also teaching lecture courses at local colleges. One of my first priorities in teaching my students is the emotional and intellectual connection and the discovery of their personal music favorites and match them in accordance with their interest, age, and level. for the beginner student(children), I usually use the Axford Guitar Method, which is one of the most progressive and easy-to-understand methods. It teaches them all the basics of classical guitar technique, with fun arrangements of popular songs that the children are interested in.As for the beginner (adults), I suggest Christopher Parkening Method which is a great beginners method book.
