I began teaching in my undergrad to help pay living expenses and have been teaching ever since in private studio, public schools, and private music schools. In total I have taught for eight years and change. I strongly encourage my students to perform in public and play music with others as much as possible. For beginning guitar students depending on age, I use two books: Hal Leonard Guitar Method, and the FJH Young Beginner Guitar Method. For more advanced students, I use he Berklee College of Music books. We begin with simple finger exercises to build finger strength. From there, first position chords, strumming patterns. Songs are used to teach different techniques of rhythm, melody and harmony. Listening to music of the specific song that is being learned, takes part in the lessons. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I rose to become section leader of the clarinet section in band and section leader of the alto section in choir. Since then, I have been teaching private lessons to students of all different ages and skill levels, as well as individuals with disabilities. Encouraging practice schedules and routine is something I like to emphasize in younger students.
