Finding what musical style or technique inspires my student is the highest priority. I ask this question when I first meet my students, and I continue to maintain a sense of what the student is inspired by through seeing what sparks passion in my student as my custom-tailored curriculum unfolds for them. I find it greatly rewarding when I can inspire my student to learn about a new style they never thought they would like or appreciate. Read More

My teaching style is patient, thorough, and persistent. For beginning students I start with a simple five note scale, how to hold or sit with the instrument, and an easy tune such as mary had a little lamb or happy birthday; Some students get that in the first lesson and some take a couple weeks everyone has their own process. I like to students to work with method or etude books and have a folder or music notation notebook to keep notes and lessons, organization is up to the student. Read More

I do not use a heavy handed method of teaching or discipline, though I do impart the importance of practice, diligence, attention to detail, and creativity. At times I incorporate methods, such as the Suzuki method for violin, or Mel Bay for guitar. I love to get students to be creative, so encourage them to write their own music, and spend time working on expressive interpetations of other's music. I also encourage them to play with others, as it is one of the best ways to practice and learn. Read More

As mentioned in my methods, I customize my lesson plans based on my students goals and needs as a musician. I try to balance out the importance of theory and understanding music notation with having fun and working on songs or techniques that the students particularly desires to play. I take the time to ensure that the student thoroughly understands concepts and songs before moving on. Though I also will take breaks to try something new to keep the student actively engaged. I'm a professional guitar/singer teacher, teach musics both in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese if there's any interest, any kind of music. I've been playing/singing for 16 years, and done part of it as a job. I'm very passionate about music, and since guitar and voice always go together I think it's a great experience to do both at the same time. It doesn't take long to teach/learn if there is minimum training during the week, and and instrument is necessary for the student to practice. Read More

I've learned through experience that being too strict can contribute to a student loosing interest in practicing, so my teaching style is in the sweet spot. I push my students to always improve but I still remain patient and adaptable to different student situations. I'm always supportive and excited for my students as they grow and find their own performances and build a strong repertoire. A students happiness and success is most important to me so I'll always be a friend and make sure they're doing alright so that they can overcome obstacles and so that we can work around problems together! Musical education is not only for future musicians, the skills that are gained in my class will enhance the student’s understanding of music in general and give them a degree of confidence that will place them at a higher social standing later in life. Knowledge of music and the mechanics of it will expand their pool of social activities and provide them solace in times of idleness or difficulty. Read More
