I knew from the day I heard my middle school band teacher playing his saxophone that that was what I wanted to do. The passion has only continued to grow for me, and I want to pass my knowledge and passion onto my students. I graduated from Western Washington University in 2016 with a BA in music and a minor in audio recording. Upon graduating, I quickly immersed myself in the music scene of Bellingham by joining two local bands, both of which recorded albums that I am featured on and contributed some of my song writing abilities to. With my teaching style, I prefer to work on what the student has an interest in if they are old enough to know. There is no better feeling than to work with a student who is enjoying the study of the current material. I also enjoy teaching beginning composition and bringing out the music from within. In guitar lessons with me, I generally go through a guitar book (the book varies depending on the students experience and what we decide to use) but mainly focus on what the student wants to learn. Learning the fundamentals of guitar will help the student learns what they want to learn, so that is applied to the lessons. I really began teaching when I was in high school and then going into college. During high school I was discovered by different middle school and elementary school music teachers and asked to come teach their students. As I began working at different schools, I was asked to give private lessons. I taught beginner masterclasses, private lessons, and traveled to different schools for about two years.
