I will often write music for my students— short pieces that highlight skills they are working to improve— which is something they really enjoy. If a student can grasp at least one or two concepts in one full lesson, and be able to internalize what they learned, I'm very pleased and inspired to discover how that concept sticks with them in the following lessons. I love developing new, positive brain patterns off of musical experiences that the student resonates with the most. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Because I teach such a wide variety of musical styles, my teaching style varies greatly from student to student. On Drums, I'm capable of teaching students up to extremely advanced professional level students, so I most often custom design my lesson plans based on the student's needs. My approach to teaching is a logical one. The student needs to learn to "crawl', and then to 'walk" and then to run. With an organized succession of excersizes, the student can learn the basics of the instrument which will lead to the ability to play more fun songs.That is the goal of learning the instrument; to be able to eventually play some fun music!! I am a passionate performer and practicer of the double bass, motivated to share my love of the instrument with anyone willing to listen. I graduated from Sayville High School in 2017 and have since studied at James Madison University under Sam Suggs and now at The Mannes School of Music under David Grossman.
