I teach classical technique that can be applied to any type or genreof music. I usually start with standard singing and breathing techniques. Then I will listen to a student's voice and determine their range and pick out a solo song based on their range, ability level, and the preferences of the student. When it comes to young children: it is 100% keeping them participating and keeping them having fun. Drums and Cymbals are particularly fun and perhaps the most instrument to play. Playing in sync with each other, color coding targets, keeping time and basic rhythm concepts are my way of keeping children 4-9 involved and wanting to learn more. I believe the most improvement in a student comes from practice time, so my goal as a teacher is to show the student how to practice most effectively by applying what they learned in their lessons in their practice sessions.
