My first job late in high school was to Lifeguard, and teach swim lessons. I also taught sports on weekends. I've worked with kids ranging from 6 months to 17, and also have worked with adults, and people with disabilities. I continued to teach, and work with kids for several years following. I've been playing flute for many many decades. I keep it fresh by continuing to learn more about music. It's an endless well of possibilities. I currently play with a jazz quartet. I've played flute since i was 9 years old and currently favor the alto flute, with its rich, lower tone. I play and teach both C flute (regular flute) and the alto flute. I enjoy getting to know each of my students individually and find out who and what inspires them to better mold my instruction to their wants. I started playing when I was 5 years old and was taught through Suzuki format. It teaches students to learn by ear and that really made a difference in my style of playing. I started writing my own compositions at 13 years old and that is what made me want to learn more. All through highschool I continued to play and eventually got a small album together.
