At a young age, I developed an intense love for music and started performing at country clubs, retirement homes, and for friends and family. For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has a grasp on the fundamentals of performance, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital or NYSSMA solo. After the student moves on from basic method books, I introduce more trombone-specific books such as Arban's Trombone Method Book,and Rochut's Melodious Etudes for trombone. I taught at The University of Cape Town as a lecture in Jazz vocal studies from 2004. I was involved in The Artscape Youth Jazz Program as a mentor for several years as well as a performer and lecturer for several years at The National Arts Festival/ Grahamstown Jazz festival in South Africa. I have also taught at the summer jazz camp program in Prague for the past 5 years.
