My teaching style can be shaped around what the student is looking to learn. I do stress in my lessons the importance of consistency of practice. 15 mins everyday is much more rewarding than 3 hours in one day. I like to write out everything that I explain in my classes to my students so that they have a reference of what they are learning. I am a professional recorder player and piano accompanist who perform regularly in New York City and arboad. I also hold full time music teacher position at a high school as well as an after school piano teacher at an elementary school. In 2018, I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and continued with my MA in music education from Columbia Univsersity from 2020-21. For beginning or young students (under age 8), music-related games are incorporated into lessons to encourage positive growth, rather than thinking of playing an instrument as a "chore". Small assignments are expected to be completed weekly, so that the child feels a sense of accomplishment and progress. For older or more advanced students, lessons are structured by a regimen of scales, exercises, and classical pieces.
