Music is accessible to everyone, but that does not necessarily mean everyone can teach it. Music relates the humanity of an individual, so a teacher needs to create connections between the music being studied and the student doing the studying. Learning music takes a high degree of patience and repetition, and it is the teacher's job to balance holding the student to a high standard and making music fun. Learning to sing or play an instrument takes a certain amount of vulnerability, so a teacher must create a strong relationship of trust with their students. Read More

My first contact with music was during my early childhood, when I took piano, guitar and violin lessons. Growing up, I was always active playing with several youth orchestras and various ensembles, ranging from classical to popular and folk music. I studied piano and composition at the California State University, Sacramento, where I had the opportunity to study with world class musicians and be part of cutting edge orchestras and choirs; during my college years I went on several tours with a choir, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, N.Y I currently perform as pianist and accompanist with Opera singers from the area, and also compose upon comissions. My Experience goes back to my early and young age. I started to take lessons with a private instructor called Manolo Parra, a wonderful flamenco and classical guitarist. After 3 years of taking classes with him I started to teach guitar and work as his teaching aid. At the same time I participated and helped in church choirs as member and choir director making arrangements for original compositions and others. Today I'm still composing, arranging and directing a musical group. Read More

I was a percussion major in college then spent a few years in Austin Texas traveling with country, rock and blues bands. Have played on over 20 records. My lessons are one on one and we both play side by side each at a drum set learning and having fun. My home studio is comfortable and provides a great atmosphere for music. Read More

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student develop the same passion for music that I have. It is very important to me that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting goals at each lesson, by a deadline, etc. Acknowledging accomplisments helps fuel a students desire to progress and makes them eager to learn more. Finding what inspires the student is the best possible way to tailor each lesson to their wants and needs. Read More
