If the student is a beginner I will teach them proper technique, how to develop good habits at home, and I will also inform the parent to watch out for these aspects when they are practicing at home! We will be working on short excerpts from essential elements book, and then we will progress to Suzuki repertoire. If the student is intermediate I will work on Suzuki repertoire, and scales, also most of my private students are in an orchestra so we incorporate their school music in lesson as well. Read More

I try to make sure students can progress at their own pace based on their own skill level and experience with the instrument. I try to instill diligence patience and not being too hard on yourself as the top priorities. I want student and teacher interactions to be casual enjoyable and fun but at the same time serious with regards to the composer's intentions in the music. While student teaching in Frisco I attended many workshops and had many conversations with experienced teachers about how to improve my teaching. I started drum lessons at 12 years old and studied jazz and swing drumming early on. I was a percussion major in college then spent a few years in Austin Texas traveling with country, rock and blues bands. Have played on over 20 records.
