For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. We sent students to perform at Terminal 5 in New York City where they performed alongside members of the rock group Living Color. Students also performed at famed venues such as the Ridgefield Playhouse and the Spaceland Ballroom. In 2015 I was accepted to SUNY Purchase’s Studio Composition Graduate Program which took me away from my job at School of Rock.
