I believe that students learn by DOING, so I bring my microphone to every lesson to give them that hands on experience. I plan on having multiple recitals throughout the year so students can experience singing solo as well as in group settings. I also love to challenge my students with new songs and fun exercises weekly, making sure we are seeing that personal growth as we progress. I teach strictly by the John Thompson Book Series, Grade 1, Grade 2, and Advanced level. I also make it a goal for the student to learn one major classical piece throughout the course of instruction: "Fur Elise" by Beethoven, or "Moonlight Sonata: 1st Movement" by Beethoven. I started teaching about 3 years ago, and have been consistently going to various students' homes for lessons, voice and violin alike. I have worked with all ages, from 5 years old to over 60 years old. Making sure my students constantly practice is definitely one of my key points I focus on. I cater my lessons according to the students experience level. For beginners, I teach them a few chords, exercises and get them playing their favorite songs fairly quickly. This helps build some positive steps and motivates the student to keep playing. For more experienced students, I use the Berkley Guitar Method, teaching them chords, scales and simple songs which puts the theory into practice.
