I am laid back teacher but at the same time expect the most out of my students. I stress the importance of daily practice, but at the same time try to make it a fun activity. I want the lesson space to be somewhere that student can be themselves, and always explain my reasons for having a student perform a certain task. I am curious about the student’s goals and make an attempt to teach style of music that the student is interested in. Read More

In 2015, I graduated from The Juilliard School with my Bachelor of Music degree, and went on to obtain two Master of Music degrees from The Yale School of Music. Studying at Juilliard and Yale has been a challenging and inspirational experience that provided me with the opportunity to study with experienced and highly motivating professionals, and surround myself with talented, and creative musical colleagues. I am currently pursuing orchestra auditions and performing new and little-known music with my harp and trumpet chamber group, Only Two. Read More

For my beginning students, I generally start with the book their school teacher wants them to use, or I have students use the Yamaha book 1. If the student begins in middle school or high school, I like to use the Rubank books. I believe that working on solo repertoire is an important part of learning and performing, so I begin my students on solo repertoire as soon as possible. I choose solo works that are in the ability of the student, yet offer enough of a challenge to help the student learn and grow. Read More

Once the student can get the basics down I start with basic rock and pop tunes, or whatever music the student happens to be interested in. Forintermediateor advanced players, I try to gage where the student wants to go with the instrument and try to help them any way I can with theory or performance. I am a motivated and fun-loving music teacher of all age ranges. I have been teaching private voice and piano lessons since I was a senior in high school, and I love working with all of my students and watching them grow throughout the course of our lessons. I graduated magna cum laude from The Hartt School in 2001, receiving my BFA in Musical Theatre Performance. A year after I graduated from college, I knew that I wanted to teach in schools along with teaching privately, so I got my PreK thru 12th Grade Music Teaching Certification for the State of CT through The ARC Program, and have been teaching in both the private and public school settings ever since.
