Music is something that gives me a sense of self-gratification, takes me to a whole new world, where everything is right. I've been teaching and making beautiful sound for 45 years. Music express emotions with no words, it is a language of love, love between you and deep inside yourself, it awakens something that you never imagined before, you'll find something that you never lost before, that is with you, deep inside you. I've been teaching privately for 10 years and working with music stores and schools in their band programs/music classes for 8 years. I've worked with Brian Wilson at Summit Academy, Jeff Quamo's students at Mesa High and with Mary Price in her general music classroom at Summit Academy. I'm currently in multiple ensembles as well as getting back into choral music which is where I get my experience in musical phrasing and emotion. Read More

The way I have always approached teaching is the same way i learned music, to try and make each concept make sense by breaking down and relating basic key points of playing and improvising to each other. For example, I like to emphasize breaking down chords and the related scales in an easy to undertand and logical way. I emphasize the importance of phrasing and shaping chords while using such shred techniques as alternate picking, legatto, sweep picking and tapping. Read More

The first time I taught I was about 15-years-old and it ignited a passion for sharing my musical experiences with others! I started teaching an 8-year-old and from there had the opportunity to teach people from all over the world! I've taught people from places like Tonga, Ghana, England, Wales, and China. My students have not only become better at guitar but had a great time while doing it! I've found it works best to teach the foundational skills using the students' favorite genre of music. Read More

For beginning students that are in middle or high school, I typically start them out learning snare drum technique, and reading rhythms. Fortechnique I will use standard exercises and rudiments, and for readingI will use "Syncopation for The Modern Drummer".If the student has a drumset then I will start them with some basic "Rock" beatsas a tool to help thembetter understand the subdivision of time, and form some independence. Most of my students move into Gary Chester's "The New Breed" as their first drumset book. After teaching for 25 years, I have developed a lot of my own lesson meterials, and I try to cater the lesson plans to both challenge the students and keep them having fun learning. My earliest experience teaching was as a music counselor at a summer festival called French Woods. During my two summers working there, I taught students of all ages and skill levels on tenor and bass trombone, including private lessons. At French Woods I learned that I loved helping young musicians grow. After obtaining my Masters Degree in 2020 I focused on music education, and I have worked as a teacher for more than two years.
