My first teaching experience, though not musical, was as a martial arts instructor at the Cuong Nhu dojo I attended from age 7 to 18. I was a teachers assistant by age 12 and would lead childrens and adult classes up to twice a week by age 14. I always start out with fundamentals and rudiments on the snare drum, Focusing on stick position posture and proper technique. We will extensively on flexibility and scales through out all stages of development as well as intonation on the instrument.
