My passion is performing music and teaching others how to do the same. Most of my performance experience is on saxophone in the jazz, rock, blues, and pop genres. However, I also have a great passion for classical music and recorded a classical album titled Contrasts available on all streaming platforms. I have more than 10 years of experience teaching private saxophone, flute, and clarinet lessons. I also taught 3 years as a teaching assistant and 3 years as the instructor of record for a Continuing Education course at the University of Colorado. Read More

Hello! I'm Audie, a college student studying Music Education at Western Connecticut State University. I believe that music has the capacity to be an agent of change, both within and outside one's self. Learning a musical instrument can be a very satisfying opportunity to grow as a person and as a musician. My method of instruction is individualized to both a student's goals and their unique interests or aptitudes. Together, I work with a student to figure out what they intend to achieve with their music and how to get there, while building musical skills (such as ear training, rhythm, and phrasing) and lifelong skills (such as discipline, focus, and self esteem). I use several different method books for teaching. The books I typically use are Alfred's Basic Guitar, Mel Bay's beginner books as well as Hal Leonard's melody books. I teach beginner students the basics of how to properly hold their guitar, hand and finger placement, and simple note reading and chords. For more advanced students I teach theory and how they can apply it in order to be more creative. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I started piano when I was 5 years old and voice when I was 13 years old. I attended the Interlochen Arts Academy my last two years of high school as a Voice major and Piano minor and went on to achieve Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Voice at the University of Michigan. I studied piano in college as well. As an alum of The Juilliard School, the Metropolitan Opera and many regional companies and orchestras, I will share with you the secrets to my success, and help you achieve success as well! Read More
Instruments: Voice
I have been teaching voice for 30+ years, from classical to broadway, and all forms of contemporary. I began teaching traveling to people's homes, and was so fortunate to have many requests and so created a home studio. I was asked to also teach in several towns. I loved and still love teaching and the students themselves. I want the lessons to be a fun and exciting process. I want them to learn. Read More

For the beginner my method is to start with the basics. You will learn how to read standard notation, and tabs. We will work on technique, and help you develop a nice tone. I also like to incorporate music that the students want to learn to make it fun and exciting as well. Even though learning the guitar can be hard work, it should also be really fun. More advanced students can bring music they are working on, either for school or for themselves and we will find a way to make it more interesting and polished. Read More

For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. For my violin students, I usually stick with the Suzuki Method, or Essential Elements books, if they are in the more beginning stages. Read More
