My biggest goal is not just for my students to grow and progress but also to have fun! We sing because we love it, and it gives us joy to do it and share it with others. I choose the course of study based on the individual student. Beginners usually start in "Flute 101" or the Blocki Method - Book 1. Really young students start on a small, Nuvo flute, to accommodate size, then graduate to a traditional flute. I have a number of games and projects for young beginners. I am a musician that loves to perform and teach. I have led the saxophone section in many bands and have always produced high quality musicians that love to perform and improve their musical technique. I am able to assess the needs and learning abilities my students to determine which meathods are most effective. I have performed in large ensembles and as a soloist with great success. I began teaching music in high school, a friend coworker had a son that wanted to learn trumpet and it was a fun way to make money. As I continued into college, I learned that I was able to give lessons to members of the band or choir as an employee to the Adrian College Academic Services Department and I was happy to do so. In addition to Adrian College students, I also gave lessons to local high schoolers (mostly tuba players) and many where featured and scored well in state Solo and Ensemble exhibitions. Read More
