I'm a drummer of 22 years!, I have featured on numerous records as a session drummer, played hundreds of shows across the country (mostly rock/metal but occasionally jazz/funk/country) I have been classically trained from age 6-present (yes, teachers need teachers too! I am passionate about providing a top quality private flute education. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Music Education in 1994. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000 and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I worked on my masters degree in music eduation from the University of North Carolia at Pembroke and received 18 hours graduate credit. Sound is the most important aspect of trumpet playing, and the good thing is you can practice pretty much anything and still focus on your sound. For beginners I usually supplement their beginner band book with some simple drills from Schlossberg's Daily Drills or some I wrote myself. The Clarke's Technical Studies and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method are great books as well that I use with most of my intermediate/advanced students. Read More

One of the things I love about teaching is watching my students grasp the musical concepts I teach, as well as see how they all relate. Each student progresses at their own pace, some faster, some slower than others. I tweak my teaching style to meet each student's unique abilities, so as to assist them in reaching their potential. I got my first guitar in the summer of 2001 and found the guitar was a great hobby when I was bored and couldn't find anything else to do. My passion for the guitar grew exponentially when I started getting better at it. I recieved only a few lessons from private intructors before I went to college and learn how to 'really' play the guitar. Music has been my life for so long and it is my passion! I started reading sheet music when I was 4. I started to learn Piano when I was 5. At age 7 I started learning basic Music Theory. At age 10, I began my journey with Flute and I have been playing ever since! I have played with the Arlington Community Orchestra, Flower Mound Philharmonic Orchestra, Flower Mound Flute Choir, TWU Wind Symphony, TWU Flute Choir, TWU Jazz band, TWU Pep band, and recently became a sub for the Mesquite Symphony.  Read More
