I am a lifelong musician who specializes in clarinet and saxophone playing. I am a fellow Memphian and have been all of my life. I love everything about the music culture here in Memphis. You have gospel, jazz, reggae, blues and other great styles of music here! I graduated from Visible Music College with a bachelors degree music production. All though music engineering is my day job, being a bassist is my full on love. I have had the opportunity to play on a netflix called “Take Me To The River.” I have also had the pleasure of performing at the Lincoln Memorial Center. Read More

My desire is for all of my students to know and learn proper technique. For beginner students, I will start with theory basics that are foundational to learning and can be directly applied to their instrument. Once they gain a basic understanding of the fundamentals, I will introduce more complete solo repertoire that they can begin to work on. Depending on the interests, learning desires, and level of the student, I will move forward with what interests them, though I may require some classical selections as I believe it to be a style foundational to a great musician. I teach according to each students learning ability and I also love to challenge my students to help with their daily practice time. Depending on the level of advancement , we will determine the materials that is needed for each lesson. If its a beginner they will start on the basic learnings and fundamentals of music to help them better understand the lesson. Once the students progress to a certain level in their music I will then introduce more challenging exercises to prepare them for the next level. Read More

For piano students I highly recommend the Alfreds books for beginners. After you have some background we can work with the music of your choice, classical, jazz, pop, RnB etc. Some of my specialties include teaching people how to turn chord charts into music, how to improvise and how to use music theory to improve your understanding of music. For guitar I do not use any books as I find most guitar method books to be very old fashioned and not inviting to the student. Read More

The first priority for me is to dully understand what each student and parent wants from the desire for private instruction. My teaching methods are tailored to each student's indidvidual needs and expectaions for the duration of lessons. I don't have a specific method book set, for I use multiple sources thoughout the teaching experience. Most of my students are middle and high school students. In that case, I work with them on whatever they may be playing in their respective school band programs. Read More

I am 29 years old and have been playing music since I was 9 and actively playing in bands since age 15. Starting with classic rock and blues, I slowly began to encompass a wide variety of styles into my playing, like funk and reggae. I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2013 and actively played jazz with the music program in addition to having an independent student band. After graduating, I moved to Spain for a year and played acoustic guitar all over the country. Read More
