Instruments: Guitar Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar

I taught students ages 5-7 in the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls' Jumpstart program, and ages 8-18 in Willie Mae's Girls Rock Program. At Willie Mae, I taught mostly group lessons. I have also taught group theory and fundamentals lessons at the Brooklyn Music School in Fort Greene, where I work currently as a counselor. I enjoy teaching one-on-one lessons because they tend to allow for a more productive (and fun!) learning environment. Read More

I'm very much a lover of music, rhythm, and sound. I enjoy sharing that love of music with my students and helping them achieve whatever goal they may have. I try to always remind the student that there is validity to all that we do, and to not be afraid of experimenting and improvising. I want my students to always think as improvisers and composers from the very start of our studies. Read More

Instruments: Voice Flute Music

With an intense focus on character study, I've performed lecture recitals and partial roles of Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Blondchen (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail) and Musetta (La Boheme). I've performed these roles and in concert at stages like Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, NJ PAC, Provincetown Playhouse, Frederick Loewe Theater, MPAC and Roxbury PAC. I attended NYU, earning a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Read More

When it comes to teaching piano I use the faber method. I like the combination of theory, ear training, and sight-reading that it offers as those are fundamental skills to be a good musician. If they are able to successfully complete those books, I go into solo repertoire and work on fingering techniques as well as reading music off a lead sheet as you never know when you want to play something and the sheet music is not available. Instruments: Clarinet

Over the years I've discovered that taught properly from day one, anyone can play the clarinet with ease! The clarinet is typically known as being a troublesome instrument to learn, but I have found that this is only due to poor hand technique and poor embouchure. Squeaks and squawks are only due to fingers not covering the holes, or too much mouth piece in the mouth. It is a priority of mine to make sure the student can produce a quality sound on their instrument, (for themselves, for myself and everyone else who gets to listen to them practice). Read More

I began teaching when I was a junior in highchool 5 years ago. As I progressed and study music at college I've kept on teaching as I've kept on learning, both at school and at home. Consistency is key and I always ingrain this into my students, no matter the level. The more you play the more you'll foster a love for your instruments! Being classically trained has given me a phenomenal base for my playing and I always try and incorporate the excellent form and technique it produces when teaching, especially with students of different genres! Instruments: Drums Latin Percussion Djembe

There's a ton of books about drumset out there. I like to use some of the best ones in my experience that offer us infinite possibilities to create our own individual practice routines. These include: - Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone - Syncopation by Ted Reed - Modern Rudimental Swing Solos by Charley Wilcoxon - The Drummer's Complete Vocabulary As Taught by Alan Dawson More than the books I like to focus on the desire, the flame in the student which drives them to want to play music in the first place... a favorite song or band, and then use these books in order to service that. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
