I have been playing percussion for at least 40 years and share my love for music through teaching and performance. I presently am a show group member of Samba New York where I am section leader for the third surdo section. I play many Brazilian percussion instruments as well. I am also the section leader of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra and the Massapequa Philharmonic Orchestra where I play timpani. As a teacher I like to be very encouraging, gentle, and supportive. I make sure to encourage with positive reinforcement. When a child gets something right, I praise the accomplishment. If they fall short, I compliment them on something that well, and then add something along the lines of, "That was amazing, let's do that same thing only this time ______". My love for teaching has grown over the years out of the success I see my students achieve. Being able to guide a student towards vocal growth is the most rewarding part of what I do. I love seeing the "lightbulb" go off for them. I have taken voice lessons for 14 years, and know how it feels to be frustrated vocally but also thriving vocally.
