Instead of using existing method books which may or may not contain music that the student can relate to, I like to use the favorite songs of the student. Once the student makes known his/her request I then create an arrangement of that particular song and tailor it to suit their level ( beginner ,intermediate, advanced ). This ensures a high level of interest and motivation on the students part. For those students who insist on using method books I'm OK with that too ( So the traditionalists are welcome too). I strongly encourage a great work ethic. Believe in students to open the doors to the potential that is within them to discover the wonderful healing power of music. Through diligence hard work and focus on pure enjoyment I bring my students back to the keyboard several times over a week allowing them to be fully excited about the prospect of the time they would spend on the piano I feel as though what one puts into something one gets out of it and everything goes, in this big wide world on your permanent record. For every one of my beginning students who wants to start playing the guitar or singing, I will alway start them off the best and most knowlegable way I know how, which would be a beginners guide. I started with Hal Leonard's Essential book 1 when I first started learning, and I have always used Hal Leonard's Essential guides for my students. If a student is an intermediate, I can find out where they're at and help them with any handicaps they may have, and point them in the right direction. ***Important note: I am able to teach online via SKYPE or FACETIME as well as in home or studio. In addition, I play & teach old time fiddle tunes like Arkansas Traveler, Soldier's Joy, & Ragtime Annie, and Bluegrass songs/instrumentals. I also teach a variety of just nice, popular songs like Auld Land Syne. America the Beautiful, Jingle Bells, & You Are My Sunshine. All of this includes keys, chords, scales, and theory. One IMPORTANT & UNIQUE feature of my lessons is my 4 color CHARTS which ever student can have. They are not necessary for the learning process, but they make it easy to relearn song/tunes much later if the musician has forgotten them. Read More

It is really fulfilling for me to see my students use the knowledge they gain from my instructions to improve their playing level. Effective practice habits are agreed upon between myself and each student. Goals cannot be achieved without effective practice habits. Students are encouraged to participate in their community and school music performance activities, enter competitions and do music examinations. These activities build self-confidence, help students to develop a sense of accomplishment and measure their progress. Read More
