I focus first on fundamentals of sound and technique to build a foundation for the student then work on scales and repertoire to get them playing music. Over the years, I've learned that every single student learns differently in addition to going at their own pace. Anyone at any age CAN learn music! I've found that presenting multiple solutions to varying problems gives the students the best chance to succeed and it's not that someone cannot learn, they just haven't been presented with an explanation they can understand and clicks for them. For the begining for those students that they don't know music i teach them the basic, for example i start with the rhythm and after the fundamentals. They are going to learn how to read simple notes. Once they have a grasp of the fundamentals they are ready to be introduce into the piano. For the students that already know the concept and how to play the instrument, I ask where they are and I continue to provide them more so they can continue in there progress. Read More
