I began teaching lessons while in high school to friends and other students of varying ages. Having taught in several music shops, I currently teach students from my house or in their own homes, which is why Musika was an attractive company for me. My background in music and teaching spans a diverse set of styles, and I try to encourage students to broaden their musical horizons by introducing them to music they may not have otherwise heard. Instruments: Piano Voice Music

My voice and piano studio was established in the summer of 2018 with the desire to provide quality piano and musical theatre coaching/training to the Kansas City area. Growing up, musical theatre and piano lessons were an essential outlet for me as I explored the world around me and within me. I teach because of my desire to share the life-changing experiences the performing arts has to offer with the next generation of performers. Read More

As a teacher, the biggest reward is hearing how students, who have never cared for music in the past, develop a new love for it after being in my class. My teaching style is to make learning fun for my students. It is also important to me that students set their own goals and take ownership of their learning. It is my job to guide them to those goals and to celebrate when those goals are accomplished. Read More

When I am working with students with no experience or beginners I like to focus on the enjoyment and less explanation of technical matters. I like to work with students on learning to play a tune first so they feel more accomplished and dont lose the excitement due to the repetitive nature of learning a new skill. When I am working with students that are more advanced, I would do more listening and focus on technical skills. Read More

My teaching experience began when I was in grad school, where I taught a few students at a local high school. Since moving to the KC area eight years ago, I have been consistently teaching and gradually building my private studio, which now has over 20 students! I love working with young singers (specifically grades 8-12) and helping them find the potential in their voices.  I have encountered the full range of ability levels, from very experienced (had lessons before, sung multiple solos in school choir, had lead roles in musicals, etc.) to complete novice (no lessons, no choir experience).  My overall approach to lessons is the same, regardless of ability level: consistent improvement from week to week using vocal exercises, songs, and an exploration of breath and the physicality of singing. The method book I begin younger students on is Piano Adventures by Faber and Faber. There are 5 Level books to complete. We use the lesson book, as well as the technique book. I also supplement with solo repertoire and various materials. For the older beginner, I use Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Course, as well as supplemental solo repertoire. Music theory is essential in my studio, and I use various learning tools to teach theory. iPad apps, worksheets, games and manipulatives are a few examples. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
