Since graduating with my Master’s degree in Clarinet Music Performance in 2002, I have performed with numerous musical groups, including bands, orchestras, and ensembles, all over the world. For 12 years I performed with the Sudecka Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland as a clarinetist and pianist. I would assist in teaching a group class of beginners ages 5-6 and an adult class for music majors. I have also taught privately in person and online to both adults and children. For young beginners, I recommend starting with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for Band. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, we will introduce solo pieces appropriate for the child's skill level and purposes (preparing for a performance vs learning for fun, for example). For older students, we will work quickly to establish a firm knowledge of the fundamentals before moving on to more complex pieces based on the student's interests. Read More

I approach each student differently because each person has different strengths, needs, and goals. No two lessons are ever taught the same way because each one is tailored to the individual. I am happy to work with students on specific repertoire for auditions or other events, and/or on general literature simply for the love of singing and the joy of growth. It is important to realize that much of success depends on the motivation of the student and that there are no "quick fixes," but if we work together with realistic expectations, everyone will be successful. From beginners to experts, foundational work is key to progressing as a musician. Beginners will start by learning technique, theory, and active listening and music industry 'must haves'. More advanced students will go into more detail on these subjects with a heavier work load. Expert students will learn what they have missed in the beginner to intermediate and advanced levels.
