More recently I have had the pleasure of conducting several masterclasses in China, where I was made an honourary professor, University of Toronto and Gordon College in Massachusetts. Hi! My name is Nish M. I am an improvising musician, specializing in Woodwinds (primarily the Saxophone and Clarinet), Composing/Arranging/Producing/Recording. I attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2010 where I studied Jazz Performance. I stayed in Sydney until 2020, where I did a lot of work as a session musician, (The Voice, Solange Knowles, Yolanda Be Cool, ++...) I often like to emphasize the use of expressive dynamics, rhythmic coordination between the two hands, and melodic phrasing. Given the open-ended nature of the musical experience, I hope to impart valuable insights into these technical aspects of performance and practice while also providing general guidance in accordance with the student's personal vision. In high school I played in the New Jersey Youth Symphony Jazz Orchestra, my high school big band, various gigs as a lounge musician, as well as numerous rock groups with my friends and classmates. I've taken lessons with greats like Vic Juris and played alongside Paul Shaffer. I have also given lessons as a guitar instructor myself for students of all ages, and like to bring my own youth and excitement into my style of teaching. Read More
