This provides instant gratification as the student is able to play something they know and like while at the same time they're learning the techniques they'll need for more complicated challenges in the future. Usually, each lesson starts with some warm up ear training and performing, we then transition into practice pad or snare drum exercises to help develop technique, then move on to reading and understanding notation, and finally we focus on drum kit performance and some improvisation.
