I started studying piano in my early teens and have continued studying all of my life.  Even to this day I still practice 30-45 minutes every morning.  I have played professionally all of my life as an accompanist for vocal and instrumental soloists, and having taught high school choral music for over 20 years, accompanied a variety of vocal ensembles.  I have performed for weddings, banquets, parties, and civic gatherings, and have been my church's pianist and chief musician for the past 15 years. I always try to ask the student what the scene of a movie would be if they are playing the soundtrack, and get them to convey that when they play. For all my cello students, I start with 170 Foundation Studies and a modified Suzuki Method (Cello). Once my students reach Suzuki book 4, then they can start playing Bach Suites, and other intermediate repertoir. The Bach Suites, however, are what most of my cello students are interested in learning. For piano students, I use the Bastien piano series by Neil Kjos. I want my students to be interested and engaged, and coach them through basics while also trying to find pieces or genres they want to play. Read More

I am a passionate instructor who enjoys working with students of all ages. I started performing, professionally, at a very young age, during my 6 years at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. From there, I attended the Louisiana State University, as a cello performance major and performed with the school symphony, as well as the Alexandria Symphony, the Lake Charles Symphony and local venues.
