I do not believe sheet music makes a great player. I do believe it is a skill but it absolutely does not hinder the ability to become an amazing guitar player. The most rewarding thing to me is when I see something that a student has struggled with "click" and they master it and move on. During my four years there, I also performed several sub-genres of Classical Music from Sonatas and avant garde to even transcriptions of Bach Cello Suites.
