Hi I’m Gabriel, and I’m a self taught full time musician. I picked up my first instrument at age 9 and began playing professionally at age 12. In 2016 I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a bachelors of arts degree in instrumental performance. Since I began my professional career I’ve played for a wide range of local, national and international artists. I have experience performing and teaching in a wide variety of settings. While a music student at the University of Iowa, I performed with all three concert bands and two jazz bands as well as playing in orchestral and chamber settings. After graduating from Iowa with a degree in music performance and education, I performed with the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra as well as a ska/rock band. I have experience teaching from the beginner to the collegiate level. I teach technique, songwriting, theory lessons, or any style the student prefers. Each lesson is specifically tailored to a student's individual needs and musical desires. I teach an effective practice routine involving a metronome and egg timer to promote good habits. The more a student feels like he/she has accomplished, the more patience and dedication the student acquires. After a student has established that piano is fun/rewarding, I like to slowly incorporate the study of music theory. With music theory a student can begin to codify and understand where these sounds come from.
