Instruments: Piano Organ
I would like to start my beginners in the aaron piano course book. I will also introduce music theory along with helping students to develop a ear for music, so that they can mix the two together to create their own style of playing. The more advance students will be introduced to John thompsons Mordern Course for the piano and the adult all-in-one course book. I would encourage my students to practice everyday. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching experience dates back to when I was 16 and began working with young beginners. I then went on to work with intermediate level students and in college I worked with advanced as well as beginner voice students. I love sharing the passion and love I have for music with students. I believe that a consistent practice and lesson schedule works to both my and the students advancement and growth in music. Read More

I am a young, but passionate, aspiring trumpet player. I am currently attending The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and am in search of exciting new teaching opportunities with bright young students! I mainly reside in the classical music genre and, therefore that is the area in which I will mainly teach. However, I have a small amount of jazz training that I would be more than happy to share as well! Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I absolutely love seeing my students really learn their new techniques and music! I am a very patient person and definitely allow each student to learn at his / her own pace, encouraging them to know each technique in several different ways, to truly have a good understanding of not only what they are playing, but how and why. I am a stickler for lots and lots of practice (what else? ;-) ), but honestly you or your student will only learn piano by practicing consistently. Read More

For beginning brass players, my favorite method for individual instruction in the "Breeze Easy" method, by John Kinyon. These books have fun and engaging entry-level pieces for students to play. Once students have gone through each book and developed certain fundamental skills, I will encourage them to move on to more advanced books such as the Arban's "Complete Method", and Robert Getchell's "2nd Book of Practical Studies". Arban's has a great combination of fundamental exercises such as scale studies and vocalizes, but also has entertaining solos and duets toward the back of the book. Read More
Instruments: Flute
For beginner students, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, since it is commonly the book used in middle school bands. From there, I transition the student to solo repertoire by finding/transcribing music that the student enjoys before introducing appropriate more formal solo repertoire. I also begin teaching students basic music theory and slowly start to introduce more advanced techniques, such as vibrato and double-tonguing. It is also important for me to ask students about their goals and interests when structuring their lesson curriculum! Read More
