I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Each student is provided a weekly practice journal. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I really started teaching in earnest during the summer of 2012 where I took a job in Michigan as a Piano Teacher Camp Counselor.
