I taught my first trombone lessons when I was still in high school, and I've always felt a strong connection to teaching (my parents are teachers too). When I was getting my masters, I began teaching beginning brass classes at local elementary schools, and this expanded into several elementary band classes upon graduation. Setting goals that they can achieve will encourage them to progress on track. Acknowledging their accomplishments will keep their desire to continue learning more. All students are assessed in reading music abilities as well as playing ability. Beginners are taken through a friendly course of learning about the instrument. For Classical Guitar I use Segovia Scales, Carulli Preludes, Sagreras, Guiliani Right Hand Studies, my own material from my book and some great compilation books to span the various genres of Classical Music to include the Renaissance Period, Baroque Period and Classic Period.
