Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! It 's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I prefer one on one lesson time. Parents are welcome to stay and watch if they'd like. I don't have a particular style. My journey in music took a couple of unexpected turns. As a youth, it was my intention to get a degree in trumpet performance, but life held a different path for me and I put the instruments away. Some years later, my wife- knowing how much I continued to enjoy music- suggested I take up trumpet again and I did, for which I'll be eternally grateful! I now perform in multiple ensembles in Westchester and Fairfield counties as well as in New York City in addition to maintaining a teaching studio where I can share my love of music. Read More

I usually use the Faber, Beyer, or Czerny depend on the student's level. I'd add Hanon, bach 2,3 part invention, Sonatina album, and the list can go on. For Jazz, all I need is manuscript paper and a Jazz Real Book (I'd hand out some exercise notes). For advanced students, I want them to listen to music a lot. I began teaching 5 years ago. I started teaching classical Indian music and expanded into teaching vocal technique in various genres from Bollywood to western classical. My focus is to make sure your voice is functioning to the best of its ability in students of all ages in any genre. Instruments: Piano Synthesizer Keyboard

For younger children I typically begin with the Alfred Piano Lessons series as I find the songs very accessible, catchy, and the format of the book to be engagaing for kids. The series is also very suited to a complete beginner in its introduction of new concepts and will have the child already playing songs by the end of the first lesson. For older students I will skip over easy material in an effort to simply fill in the gaps of what they already know or can learn quickly and focus on moving them more into music they are interested in playing. My teaching style focuses on what most interests the student and draws them to the particular instrument. We explore different song styles and different exercises that speak to each individual student. I also believe in regularly providing constructive criticism and encouragement for each student's accomplishments. The more you inspire your student, the more driven they become. I encourage students to pick their favorites styles and songs to work on and we then take it from there and provide inspiration and a bit of fun! Read More

With all my students, I like to first figure out their goals and tailor our lessons to match each individuals aspirations. For every singer I will assign various vocal exercises to practice each week. We also will work on sight-reading exercises to encourage a high level of musicianship. For beginners, I typically like to start with the 24 Italian Arias and/or light musical theater pieces to establish a good technical foundation and gradually move on to more advanced repertoire.
