My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church. I like for my students to develop a passion for music by showing them what can be accomplished with a little hard work and discipline. My method includes teaching them the fundamentals of music, such as reading, harmony, theory, and songwriting, while at the same time showing them how to play their favorite music while applying these fundamentals. Making the lesson fun is absolutely essential! I believe being flexible with my teaching style accomplishes this without being tedious or "boring" for the student. Read More

As a lover of multiple genres of music, I aim to improve technique, versatility, and musicianship with my teaching. I recently graduated Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Music Business. During my time in school, I performed throughout the Boston area at venues such as the Middle East and the Berklee Performance Center. After graduating, I was able to tour through parts of New England and perform at venues ranging from small night clubs to large festivals, including the Mud Run Rock Gods Tribute Festival in Howland, Maine. Instruments: Voice
For beginning students who are children (3-7 years old), I typically start with the nice songs, which involve dance, animal sounds, musical games, simple percussion instruments, clapping, funny- playful movements. With the older children (8-14) we start learning staff, keys, music notes, basic scales, more complex songs, but still keep the playfulness. If I teach in person - I usually play guitar, so I can move with the students. Teenagers (15-18) are abe to set their own goals, but they're still following the basic music theory approach. Read More

For humor, creativity, and fun are a big part of how I teach. At the same time I am serious about being disciplined in regular practice. I try to find out what my students are passionate about and use that as motivation. One thing I do compared to my past teachers is use technology. Frankly this technology did not exist when I was young! I often "sample" musical phrases and have them play on a loop. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Music
For younger children, I typically start with the fundamentals such as distinguishing between the head voice and the chest voice. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for said student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in both repertoire and vocal goals, and guide my instruction according to their goals. I will also put input on what I believe they could develop and use that to guide my instruction. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I design curriculum and select repertoire based entirely on the unique position of each student. As a result, the methods I employ vary widely from student to student. In general, I help students to identify and scrutinize areas in which they hope to grow, and systematize methods for development in those areas. The first lesson always begins with asking a new student to play something for me. If a student comes to me with no experience at all, I will simply ask them to play anything for me - any combination of notes, volumes, clusters, and sounds over any period of time. Read More
