My teaching career started in 1994 at Herald J Keller Elementary School while a graduate student at Loyola University. Itaught trumpet lessons, general music courses and directed the childrens choral groups. I went on to teach high school as the Band Director at Walter L. Most of my students use Alfred's Piano Course. After just a few lessons, we add in additional books and songs to expose the student to as much music as possible. I believe that the more music a student is exposed to, the better a musician he or she becomes. With the exception of recital pieces, I rarely spend more than a few weeks on one song, but instead focus on guiding students to play a wide variety of music at their level. Read More

I have played professionally since I was 17. I have played for corporate shows, private parties, clubs and even doctoral level college ensembles. I have experience in bass, performance, and recording platforms and studio work. I have given lessons to members of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Like many singers, I grew up with a love of music. I began singing in church choirs and honor choirs across the country at the age of 8 and started voice lessons at the age of 11. I was in many musicals throughout my teen years and decided to attend college to study opera at Louisiana State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance in 2012. My method of teaching is very detailed instruction. There are many books that tend to start with the assumption that you know something about music or that music is easy to just "pick up." I like to start from the students' most basic skill level and fill in all the gaps as they progress. This means that starting out might be a bit slow, but the learning curve for future lessons is shortened and students eventually end up further ahead than if they skipped around. Read More
