Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar

My lessons are all customized to the students specification. I usually spend the first few lessons trying to gauge the student interest in style(s), their strengths and weaknesses. After that, I formulate a lesson plan that will target key spots. Read More

Instruments: Cello

I began learning cello with the Suzuki method at age five. I believe Suzuki is a great place to start, as it gives learners a chance to practice specific technical and musical skills before moving on to more challenging material. Suzuki also emphasizes listening to professionals perform pieces you're working on, which I believe is important as it allows you to "absorb" good habits. I believe in breaking down complex musical concepts into bite-sized lessons that include repetition and practice to achieve mastery. Read More

Instruments: Voice

I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice. During that time I was given the opportunities to sing with some wonderful groups including Kentucky Opera Chorus, Cardinal Singers, Early Music Ensemble, and Choral Arts Society. Since moving to Colorado in 2016, I have sang with multiple quartets and ensembles, including St Martin's Chamber Choir, Gaudium Verum, Anima Chamber Ensemble as well as continuing to teach music in an individual and/or choral setting. Instruments: Trumpet Ukulele

With most beggining students I use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements 2000. For intermediate students I find the Rubank methods move at a faster pace and put a larger emphases on scales. For beginning students, when students are ready I will introduce an easy solo book. In most cases I use Belwin Master Solos or an Essential Elements supplement depending on the interests of the student. For students interested in learning jazz or other forms of improvisation, I would use Hal Leonard's "How to Play from a Real Book" in combination with the Hal Leonard or Aebersold play-along series. I have taught for 25 years and can teach any level on guitar and most levels on piano. I have taught thousands of people, many of them complete beginners who have become very accomplished musicians through years of lessons. I really enjoy helping high school jazz band students with their pieces. I help the students understand how to simplify their thinking on the songs to make it easier to play them. Read More

Instruments: Piano

Every student has unique needs. Any student will succeed if the instruction is tailored to their learning processes. Since every student learns in a different fashion, it is necessary to use both traditional methodology and Suzuki methodology in the studio. Each student is placed in the program that best suits their learning needs. My instruction is an blend of traditional western pedagogy and Suzuki pedagogy that is uniquely customized to the student.
