I focus on making sure student is comfortable and not lost at any point . Realistic expectations are important and we will assess these case by case. Pedagogy is extremely important to me as the future of many players is in the hands of a good teacher or a bad one. A bad teacher will harm a student and a good teacher will make sure no bad habits are developed . I attended to the students, teachers, and the department overall. Every student approaches the instrument differently and has different needs and interests. Whoever I am teaching, I try to find some way to relate their hobby or other interest into what they need to learn. I believe the lesson sticks with the student for longer that way. By far the greatest feeling as a teacher is that moment when the "lightbulb" turns on for the student and the idea clicks. It's an amazing feeling and to see growth happening is such a privelege. I remember the excitement of learning a new song when someone would show me, or when I'd get a challenging part. I teach out of my home studio in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as well as through Zoom to students worldwide. I have both a Master's and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I was concertmaster of the Conservatory Orchestra and the recipient of the full-ride Sergei Barsukov Violin Scholarship. In addition to my private studio, I am an active performer in several professional chamber music ensembles and a Teaching Artist for the Midori & Friends Foundation here in New York, as well as on faculty for Elizabeth Faidley Studios.
