My two favorite books for all my beginning drum students are George Lawrence Stone's Stick Control and Ted Reeds Syncopation. These books, and the rudiments are a great place to develop the basics of the instrument. I do my best at motivating students and tell them, however much time you put into the instrument will always translate into what they can get out of it. I am very laid back but also very realistic. Setting short term and long terms goals will be the key to improvement. I believe in playing with music when you are learning as well. I am a graduate of The Manhattan School of Music, earning both my Bachelor and Master of music degrees. I have performed as a recitalist, in operas and as soloist with orchestra.
