I believe in music lessons there must be a balance. Especially on an instrument like guitar. Lessons should consist of a list of certain things almost like a checklist. First there is warm up and tuning. To make sure you are warmed up and in tune there are exersizes I like to start with my students. Once they are feeling warmed up I like to move on to sight reading and notation reading (practiced and unpracticed material) as well as scales, intervals, and arpeggios. Read More

American baritone Paul L. continues to gain recognition on the strengths of his vocal appeal and charismatic stage presence. He has earned critical praise for "a wonderful touch for physical comedy, a strong and beautiful voice, and the dancing skills that one typically encounters on Broadway". 2018 witnesses Mr. L's return to San Diego Opera and his debut with Eugene Opera, for the respective company premieres of Piazzolla's tango-opera María de Buenos Aires, in the role of El Payador, and his Princeton Festival debut as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly. As soon as I graduated high school, I began teaching with my old high school as an assistant. Over the course of time I began progressing in my playing which lead to more teaching positions in various styles and genres of music from Drumline to Jazz. Educating and passing along concepts is one of the most important roles as a musician. The goal is to give your students enough tools to surpass you as a mentor. Read More

It is of upmost importance that I tailor my teaching method to my student's learning pace and their ability to comfortably grasp that particular instrument's technique. One of my strongest traits is my patience with students of young ages. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I strive to find an individual approach to each student and it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. While daily practice is necessary for quicker progress, not every student has the time for it. So I teach my students how to use the time allocated for personal practice more effectively and how to develop good practice habits. Read More

The most important thing is that my students enjoy our lesson time together and progress at a pace that is comfortable and encouraging for them. I believe that if the material is too easy and there is no challenge then the students will lose interest. The same however, is also true if the material is too challenging for the student, the student will lose heart and not be motivated to practice. Read More

My teaching style is fun and engaging. Music has to be a pleasure, both to perform and learn. In my classes even exercises are fun, interesting and stimulating; they're not just some boring tasks, but rather something that the student is actively interested in practicing and learning. I'm very positively honest and realistic with setting goals, and I strongly believe that there's room for improvement for everybody, each one with their own pace. Read More
