I first started learning the guitar in high school. I found I had an affinity for the instrument so I continued to study classical guitar and piano in college. I first started giving lessons my junior year in college and have continued to teach ever since. For beginning piano students, I start them with a variety of materials, beginning with John Thompson's piano books, along with stanzas of finger exercises to develop dexterity. But more importantly for me, is that I understand that people, especially now, want to start playing songs as soon as possible. So, I immediately teach them chords and scales. I always keep an open attitude and make my lessons energetic and exciting, while still being constructive. I love seeing my students' faces light up when they hear a cool lick, or when they nail a song they've been working on. That feeling makes the whole experience worth it for me, and I feel very lucky to teach music for a living. I was born and raised in New York City. All my life I have been passionate about the arts and music is certainly one of my greatest passions. I started studying classical violin at the age of 6 at the Third Street Music school in New York. (studied under the Suzuki method). Along my travels as a student I have also attended music camps such as Kinhaven and Interlochen and was a member of the New York Youth Symphony during my senior year in high school. Read More

My goal for lessons is not just progress. I would like to let students know how to enjoy music and the way music works. I have teaching experience in Korea and the U.S with kids age between 6 to 15. Young musicians have hard time to focus in a long period of time and practicing their own.
