I have been singing and performing professionally for 15+ years in the opera and musical theatre world. Along the way I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing teachers and artists who have sung throughout the United States and abroad. I am currently on faculty at Queens College-CUNY as a voice instructor to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to partimento, I use other traditional methods. For beginner students who are children, I typically start with the James Bastien method. I like this method because it combines reading and playing the piano from the very beginning in a well-structured progression. Then it introduces important new concepts with fun (if charmingly old-fashioned) songs designed for teaching. As the student progresses, I like to use Hanon exercises for developing finger strength, and classical repertory for use in performance. Read More

For beginning students I start them on practice pads so they can get used to holding and playing with drum sticks. From there I teach the fundamentals of drumming, which are rudiments and reading while also teaching them easier songs on the drum set that they love. I can guarantee that within their first two lessons they will be able to play "We Will Rock You" by Queen and also play a basic beat on the drum set. Read More

Vocally, I believe good basic technique is the same for every genre of music. Therefore, great emphasis is placed on learning to breathe and support your sound correctly as well as maintain good posture, rid your body of unwanted tensions, etc.; musical styles beyond that basic technique change only in small stylistic ways, and I am knowledgeable in quite a variety of most musical styles. I am a passionate performer, student, and teacher who loves to play the trombone and sharing my musical discoveries with all those I come across. I graduated with my Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from Boston University in 2018. I have had the opportunity to perform all over the United States through my involvement with DCI and as a freelance musician. Performing across the U.S. has been an incredibly rewarding and challenging experience as a musician, and I’ve had the opportunity to play sold-out shows in venues from the Hollywood Bowl, Lucas Oil Stadium, to Symphony Hall in Boston. I understand that all students do not learn the same way. So, I am prepared to teach every student through auditory, visual, or written instructions, or a combination of those methods. I believe that it important for a student to learn how to read music, but I also understand that not all students will have this interest. I am a patient, encouraging, and fun teacher!
