For beginning students, I use Faber Methods. Once the student has progressed, I would introduce solo repertoire that supports the skills necessary for improvement. Usually, I ask students if they are DYING to learn a piece, and with that selection, I'll look for techniques that can be improved upon. For adults, I try to ask what they are interested in learning, and help gauge the technique into their learning. I love nothing more than to see a student come into or leave their lesson beaming with a sense of pride and self-accomplishment. What that means to a student is as unique as they are. My beginner students may feel overjoyed to have learned their one-octave D major scale played pizzicato, my more experienced students could be proud to announce that they figured out a tricky passage on their own using skills they learned in a lesson. For my beginning students, I have them start with KJOS Standards Of Excellence. Once they have began to learn the techniques to properly play, I will begin them with repitoire that I find suitable for them to play and also what they would like to learn so this way the students are learning what they want, which makes the music learning process even more enjoyable! I am a young and passionate percussionist who loves being involved in music performance and education. I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from LIU Post in 2013, and will be finished my Master of Arts in Music Education from Hofstra University in 2017. I have had many great performance opportunities that include two performances in Carnegie Hall and other smaller venues around the country. Graduated in 2016 with a BA in Music Technology, I started piano at an early age with Yeou-Cheng Ma (sister of Yo-Yo Ma), but it wasn't until early High School that decided I was going to be a composer.
