I've been teaching on and off for about 10 years, I enjoy helping students obtain their goals, whatever their age or skill level. I think it's important for guitarists to learn some basic music fundementals we can communicate with other improvisers outside of guitar-centric music. I am not against guitar tablature sites altogether, but I do believe that tablature can be more useful if it at least indicates the rhythms. I believe learning how to read and notate rhythms can help enrich and empower students and help them develop as performs, composers and teachers in their own right. Read More

I have teaching experience since I started working on my BA in piano. I have taught adults as well as children of all levels. I have taught in music schools as well as in my private studio. My students are encouraged to practice because they love playing the piano not because they have to! I use instructional books as well as fun games to teach important concepts. I have taught in one-on-one lessons, large group rehearsals, and everywhere in between. I started my teaching with a group of peers and professors while studying my undergraduate Music Education degree. We worked as a group to teach children ages six through 16 how to play violin/cello and perform as group. Typically, I first like to have the student play something they want to play for me - anything they know or like to play! From here, I can take that information and use it to form a plan and we can address fundamentals or skills that need to be worked on. I firmly believe that fundamentals are incredibly important to playing the instrument at the highest level.
