I like to use Kopprasch etudes and James Chambers orchestral excerpts. But like to settle on a warm-up style that the student prefers. I focus on breath control, dynamics, legato and staccato execution and when the student has mastered this we move on to making music, not playing notes. Read More

For children, I keep it simple and fun, using a variety of methods to help them not only learn a song/songs, but the fundamentals of music reading, and theory. For older individuals, I prefer to work with their interests, and work towards their goals, through tailored lessons. I use a wide variety of styles, and challenge students to look outside their comfort zone-on occasion- to give them a larger repetoire that they may not have thought of. Read More

My goal with teaching is to get people on a regular routine of practicing their instrument and help people find what they like in efforts to help them pursue it later in life while having fun in the process.
