I have taught guitar throughout my career, working with beginners through advanced students, teaching both finger-style and flatpick techniques as well as why the chords fit together (music theory). I like to teach lessons that move step-by-step, with each lesson building on the one before, so that the student can see the improvement as they move ahead. I recently published the guitar instruction manual "Sounding Good on One Guitar". I started teaching flute more than a decade ago, and hope to share the gift of learning this universal language for years to come. I have interned for leading intellectual property and entertainment lawyers, including the former director of business affairs for Sony, the late Steve Gordon. My volunteer management experiences were filled with helping artists educate children in their respective and diverse communities. Then, after law school working for two bay area nonprofit organizations, one that focused on nonprofit compliance on an international scale and the other that is formed to dismantle systems of oppression through organizing, advocacy, and litigation, I have dovetailed my skills and beliefs into both working for civil rights, and teaching flute in expanding the reach of music education nationwide. Instruments: Piano Cello Keyboard

I try to balance the needs of my students and work to strengthen their musical weaknesses for example working on Vibrato or bow distribution. Usually, I like to spend 10 minutes warming up both hands with long tones, scales, arpeggios, and other fun exercises. During the next 30 minutes, we tend to focus on fixing issues relating to the music such as rhythms or intonation issues. In the last 20 minutes of the lesson I tend to focus on musicality and finding inspiration to give to my students so they can exploit their potential. Read More
