I enjoy success stories. As a teacher, I enjoy seeing my students successful. I try to take very little credit, especially in public, because ultimately, it is the students who get out on stage and put themselves on the line. As a professional singer, I understand what they need to do to succeed and will support them the best I can in fulfilling their dreams. We will work together to define what is wanted, the dreams and ideas, then we will put them into reachable goals. Read More

I have had a lifelong passion for music as far back as I can ever remember. I'm a drummer, percussionist, composer and bandleader with a strong command in the Jazz, Latin and Rock musical vocabularies. My versatility and musicality has taken me to learn and collaborate with Grammy Award winners Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci and George Garzone, as well as performing on countless stages of the international music scene. In 2010 I had the opportunity to be part of the eminent and highly acclaimed Berklee Global Jazz Institute under the artistic direction of GRAMMY AWARD winner, pianist and composer Danilo Perez. I have just begun pursuing my Doctor of Music degree at Rutgers in voice. I graduated with my Master of Music in voice from Westminster Choir College in 2013, where I studied with Sharon Sweet. I have been teaching private lessons since 2015, my freshman year in college. During that time, I have had students from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and levels of proficiency. My first teaching influence was my mom, who was a high school orchestra director and continues to teach strings to elementary school students part-time today. I have also been blessed to study with some truly amazing private instructors at IU's tremendous music school, namely Luke Gillespie (jazz piano), Fred Hammond (classical piano), Walter Smith III (improvisation), Steve Houghton (improvisation), and more. My approach is always to encourage a student to stop using language like that was bad or that sucked. Its not the best or most productive way of getting you freer and singing with less tension or nerves. What I look to motivate in a student is becoming aware of any tension or nerves and explore where it comes from. Become an analyst. Oh, I just my chin out everytime I have to sing an E vowel really high on the staff. Read More
