Instruments: Violin

I have toured for the past eleven years as a soloist and chamber musician. I am grateful for every opportunity to play with musicians and family alike and value balance in every aspect of life. A curious soul and avid seeker of this wondrous yet somewhat elusive construct, I continue to leap for it (in full congruency with the stars) in all that I do to carry me into the depths of the imagination that circumnavigates the luminosity of the present moment! Instruments: Piano Keyboard

I consider my piano performing career vital to my success as a teacher, and vice versa. An inspiring pianist is an inspiring piano teacher and I play all repertoire that I teach. As well as using my playing and teaching experience to guide their repertoire choices, I eventually get my students to choose their own repertoire so they fall in love with discovering music. I become an example to my students of a pianist who loves to discover new music, so I encourage their listening in many ways. Read More

Instruments: Flute Piccolo

I try to inspire students to become passionate musicians and people through my teaching and by example. It is important to play from the heart and not just notes on a page. It makes music and flute playing all the more gratifying! I also provide a lot of positive encouragement for students in their music but also for their lives in general. I believe that it is important to create a level of trust and comfortability with students so that more progress can be made on the flute. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Flute

I use many different methods, and I do not limit myself to the following list. I believe in a warm-up for all instruments, so each lesson will start with one (scales, long tones, etc.) For flute, I often start with either the book that comes with the rental book, old band books, etc. then I venture off into etude books, long tone books, and solos that promote individual development. Voice students will start with warm up exercises that help them find the placement of the voice and often, depending on why they are taking voice, there is a song that I pick and a song they pick. My main music philosophy is to teach sound before sight: teach students to hear the music, and then read the notation. For beginners, I want them to become well acquainted with their instrument so I begin with the basic fundamentals, and then teach some traditional tunes before moving on to reading music. For students who can already read music, I like to work on sight-reading as well as finding solo repertoire that can be performed at recitals. Read More

I certainly have adopted the teaching styles of my previous and current instructors, each bringing a unique approach to teaching an instrument. Patience and understand is crucial with any students, and there needs to be a lot of fun and excitement within a lesson, otherwise, what is the point? Now, fun and excitement must also be met with serious practice time and great concentration during a lesson. My objective is to create a comfortable environment fertile for learning, while at the same time having my students know there are skills to refine and concepts to solidify. Read More

Instilling a fundamental mastery of the instrument and musicianship is my top priority, no matter how long it may take. My approach to methods will vary depending on the student. For beginners, I like using the Robert Getchell books, in addition to the My First Arban, Essential Elements, and my own exercises. Intermediate/Advanced students will likely work from the Clarke, Arban, Vizzutti, Bai Lin, Belck, Rudd and Gekker books, in addition to other resources. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
