Greetings, I'm a recent college graduate who studied secondary education (grades 7-12). I'm a lifelong musician, and have been playing guitar and alto saxophone for about 20 years. I've also been playing piano for about 10 years. I studied music theory, composition, and musicianship for four years; and I continue to use these skills in my practice as a professional musician today. My band is currently in the process of recording a demo, and we've had numerous gigs in New Haven, New York City, and Massachusetts. Read More

I enjoy teaching all ability levels, and different genres of music. I believe that my students are the ones who motivate me to be a better teacher. If they don't enjoy what I am teaching them and aren't learning something new, then I am not doing my job properly and am also not enjoying myself. I am really looking forward to branching out and meeting new students in the near future! Read More

And of course, I want the students to have a good time during lessons! I consider our time together as an open, free, and no-judgement area - the student should feel free to experiment, ask questions, and make their own musical suggestions without the fear of what they say being brushed aside. Whatever your goal is whenever you pick up your instrument, I am here to help you achieve those goals and work towards future ones as well. Read More

I am a fun, motivational and passionate teacher who loves working to help the next generation of musicians become the type of musician that they want to be. I play and teach all types of music and while in undergrad at Oberlin I created a major within the conservatory where I combined the classical and jazz degrees together to be able to learn many different genres of music. Due to this experience, I have experience playing and teaching all kinds of music. Read More

I tend to emphasize basics and fundamentals, as most teachers do. Developing facility, dexterity, and muscle memory is very important. I use simple exercises at first. In turn with various other exercises, confidence will gradually develop. Learning to play chords (rhythm guitar), and transitions between them is vital, to almost every style of guitar. Rhythm and awareness of the tempo and meter (beat) is also important, especially if the student will play music with others. Read More

My name is Chelsey and I love sharing my love for music with students of all ages. I graduated with an MA in Music Theory and Composition in 2015 and a BM in Instrumental Music Performance in 2013 from LIU Post. I have been playing flute, saxophone and piano for as long as I can remember. At LIU Post, I had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2012 and 2015, perform in Ireland and perform as soloist with the LIU Post Orchestra. Read More
