For piano, I use Faber instructional books for piano. I teach music theory which include but not limited to scales, rhythm, etc. I give instruction on music vocabulary and literature. Furthermore, students learn some music history which includes the different eras and composers. Also, I teach vocal pedagogy which includes but not limited to breathing and phonation. Once the student has worked in fundamentals and get a better understanding of the instrument, I will begin introducing solo repertoire appropriate for his or her level. To see the student start seeing their talent, to see how far they have come and their love for music. It is one of the best feelings to see this change.
