I’m a Texas native, from San Antonio! I found music when I was about 11 years old, and I was completely obsessed with Bob Dylan and Bob Marley! Because I couldn’t afford lessons, I learned as much theory as I could online. After playing in some bands in high school, I applied for the music program at Trinity University! I received my BA in Music in 2018, and now, for the past two years I’ve been giving lessons to people of all ages, with a focus in music theory and audio production! Read More

I've been playing music for most of my life. Growing up my whole family would all gather around the piano while my father played. Seeing how inspiring and influential music could be at a young age helped me to develop a passion for it. I am very grateful to share my passion with others through teaching. I specialize in teaching improvisational styles, such as blues, jazz, and funk. I work with my students to create a good balance of a strong technical foundation and creative jamming skills which builds both the intellectual and intuitive sides of music, and helps them become well-rounded musicians. My teaching style is to be sensitive to each student. Each person has a different relationship and understanding of music. I try to identify and accommodate the ways in which the student learns best. Some students need explicit instruction and to be pushed, others need gentle guidance with time and space to work things out for themselves. A student's personality and ambitions will inform whether they need a relaxed environment or a more assertive variety of instruction. Read More

For beginners, I like to start by teaching some basic versions of songs that you love. I will also start out teaching some basic chords and strumming patterns. I can show you the proper way to hold and play your instrument so that it is comfortable and sustainable. I will also be teaching you some scales which you can use to play any song you hear. Did you know that once you learn the major scale, almost every song you hear will fall on that scale? Read More

I always tailor my lessons to my students needs and desires and never waste time. Nothing is more important than a students progress and growth so I weed out all the irrelevant or potentially boring information in music lessons and cut straight to the chase of what is going to help the student learn and enjoy their progress. I encourage consistent feedback and communication so that I may know I am succeeding in navigating the students musical experience. Read More

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed. It is my goal as an instructor to guide the student toward their vision of success, whether it be personal, professional, or some mixture of both. Every student should be challenged, but nobody should ever feel as if music is some form of art that is lost on them. I seek to set standards and expectations high to learn alongside the student and to grow, both as people and as musicians, until the point at which they have exhausted my knowledge so that they may one day reminisce with pride and accomplishment on the path that I have set them upon.
