My teaching goes all the way back to the late 80's . I began teaching the piano and drums to my little brother. I just turned 41 so it has to be about 30 years ago. I got my formal instruction in classical music in High School. That is where I developed a real passion for classical music, and opera. I went to Kentucky State University on a music scholarship. While there I was in several operas. Read More

My method for teaching is to customize an appropriate style depending upon the necessity of what the students needs are. Typically, for a novice-piano/keyboard student, I began with one or two Hanon drills to strengthen the third and fourth fingers; as they are usually the weaker fingers in beginners. From that point, the student may express stylistic desires, as prioritizing the students interest is a profound trait for ensuing retention. Read More

I tailor a student's curriculum to their musical goals and needs, while making sure that I am instilling the fundamentals needed for pursuing music at the college scholarship level. Often this means scales, chords, arpeggios, music literacy, performance practice and listening skills. To accomplish this, I use standard materials that are often available online and are used by college and University music programs around the world. I have a variety of method books in different styles and from different time periods, and will select, assign, and provide a Method book to a student based on the student's goals. Read More

For beginning students I use Faber and John Thompson books. Once the student improves of course we upgrade to more challenging songs and books. For adults I find out what they're interested in and instruct accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and always fun no matter what. I base my teaching method on my strong, enthusiastic, optimistic, patient, and loving character. I make sure the student feels comfortable, is not overwhelmed by the material, and I take any amount of time until the material is thoroughly understood. Read More

I absolutely love teaching the piano. I've taught kindergarten level students all the way up to 72 year olds. I've been teaching the piano for 7 years. During this time I've taught over 271 students how to play the piano, and over 500 students music theory. It's my goal to make sure that you reach the level of success on the piano that you desire. In fact, it was for this purpose that I was hired by a music school. Read More

I have always loved music. I began singing in church when I was only five years old. I began studying the piano when I was eight years old, and was privileged to become the church pianist at fourteen. As a lifelong student of music I have a lengthy music education, including studying the piano at the Birmingham Southern University Conservatory of Music. I have years of experience teaching piano and voice as well as teaching music in both private and public schools. Read More

My teaching experience spans over the course of the past5 years, as I began teaching when I was in college, and since then have branched out to teaching students of all ages in both my recording studio and church. I encourage students to practice on a regular basis, especially with the younger students, as it aids in the student's progress, growth and passion for playing the piano. My job is to ensure that the lesson is an experience that is rewarding, memorable and most of all, fun. Read More
